10 Day Vaca

on Tuesday, February 25, 2014
For the past 10 days, I have been on vacation from work. Let me tell you, it has been AMAZING! Knowing that I will be quitting in a few short weeks makes showing up everyday an uphill battle. So, having a getaway to use the last of my PTO was the perfect solution.

Last Sunday (February 16) Dustin came home! Well, not home, but back to the states! He was flying directly to Phoenix for his 5 week training class that will prepare him for his job in Italy. I drove from Vegas to Phoenix to meet him at the hotel we were staying in.
This is how he pulled up…
A WHITE LIMO! How ridiculous is my husband-to-be?
We headed straight to BWW since we had a gift card from my dad from Christmas.
Thanks Dad!

The next day we ran a few errands, he got fitted for his wedding tux, we did a little mall walking, and then got drunk at a sushi/hibachi grill and hot tubbed at the hotel.

It sucked waking up the next morning knowing that I would be saying goodbye to my love again, buuuuuut I was very anxious to see my family in Texas! I had so much fun seeing everyone, especially my niece Lilly! She is the most adorable, precious, perfect little baby girl EVER! Dustin and I always joke about the tough competition we have when we decide to have a little nugget.

Friday we went to the Houston Zoo for Lilly's 1st birthday with a bunch of family and friends, she loved being outside and seeing all the animals!

I swear the cuteness doesn't get much more than that!

Saturday was a big day, her birthday party! My sister and I had been talking a lot and working on themes, decor, everything. We/she decided to go with a ombre pink and gold theme, it turned out so cute!
The white frame held 12 photos from each month of her first year. I made the banner for the mantle, pretty proud of how it turned out!

Food table was pretty cute with gold confettis and the most delicious cake.

Lilly's personal smash cake which was a huge success.

Her stat board! I made this on Word with a bunch of text boxes and downloaded chalkboard fonts. Everyone absolutely loved it and gave me the feeling that I should open an etsy shop with different ones, customizable for shoppers. We'll see!

Smash cake time! She had so much fun with this!

Birthday girl with Mommy and Daddy!

I'm happy I managed to get a pic with the birthday girl in between running around taking the pictures, even if she didn't want to smile.

After the party ended and everyone left, we didn't feel like cleaning everything up quite yet, so instead I built the toy car she got and pushed her around in it. Boy was she LOVING IT! Waving around like she was Miss America (but not quite so elegant)!
I ended up flying back to Phoenix on Monday afternoon and got to see my fiancé again…YAAY!! We went to dinner at Macaroni Grill because neither of us had ever been! It was delicious!

Even though I only ended up staying in Phoenix for roughly 48 hours this past week, being with Dustin again was the absolute best feeling in the world. We have SO MUCH fun together and never skip a beat, even after being in a long distance relationship for the past year. We make each other laugh,  we are goofy together, but most importantly he is my best friend. Anytime something wonderful or exciting happens when we are apart, he is the first person I want to tell. I CANNOT wait to be married to this man in just 34 days!
